While American based, Marion Bolognesi's watercolour faces are ambiguous and somewhat simple, the emotion that resonates is undeniable. Fuss free and fresh, the technique and layers of colour are the focus, exuding softness and fluidity. The paintings leave a lot to the imagination and allow the viewer a sense of responsibility in deciding a meaning; with a lack of other facial features emphasising a sense of anonymity.

Long time coming
It is safe to say the past 7 months have flown by without me even noticing and since I last posted a lot has changed; I'm a year older, a shade browner, and (for the forseeable future) a resident of Cyprus. After much planning, negotiating, debating and list writing, me and my better half have escaped the doom and gloom of winter in London and have headed to the sunshine island. A random choice of relocation you may think, but being half Cypriot, my partner's family are thrilled to have him back in the country he was born. So for the past three weeks we have been establishing our lives here, looking for apartments, jobs and opportunities to embrace. While London held so many possibilities for both of us, it was equally as limiting. So a change of scenery, some sense of perspective and a culture shock later, we are settled. We have an apartment (and our first home together) and one of us has an income. We know it's going to be an uphill struggle but hopefully one which will be worth.
So while this blog has been a little silent of recent months, I have resumed writing, documenting our journey to the other side of Europe. You can follow our Greek adventure HERE.
And hopefully a whole different culture with sights, sounds and smells unfamiliar to me, will spark inspiration for this blog too. We'll have to wait and see.

sunshine makes the world go round
As a born and bred British girl, brought up on the edge of London, the arrival of sunshine in April means one thing; drop everything and enjoy the rare sight, smell and feel of it because you dont know how long it will last or when it will be back. And this is exactly what I have been doing for the past few weeks. In between working and pre-made plans, the great outdoors has been my new best friend.
While I'm a self confessed city girl, who will freely admit the countryside, and the thought of being isolated without a shop in sight, scares me to my inner core, i do like fresh air and beautiful views.
Yes, fresh air and beautiful views are too available to us Londoners, if you are willing to look beyond the concrete jungle and ignore the sound of heathrow. And over recent weeks I have walked, run and dordled around streets, parks and museums, which quite appropriately explains the silence on this neglected and unloved blog of mine.
But can you really blame me. Sunshine is a rarity and it really should be made the most of, especially with Marble Hill park, Richmond Hill and Pembrook Lodge on my doorstep. So since the rain has returned I thought it was about time to show my blog some love. However this is going to be short-lived, with a weekend of birthday celebrations ahead of me.
We will have to wait and see what May and my twenty-second year will bring. Im hoping it's diamonds but I wont be holding my breath.
